I have a feeling my boundless enthusiasm for the product was partially to blame for not selling any. It was truly terrible smelling perfume, though. Don't buy stuff just because a celebrity slaps their name on it, kids.

A bunch of days all at once
I have been drawing (nearly) everyday, but today is the first time I've had time to post. I thought about doing a Submit Sunday post, but I won't be home Sunday to use the scanner. So today it is.
DRAWING OVERLOAD!!!!
DRAWING OVERLOAD!!!!
I didn't have time to draw on the 25th because I had to finish the pug designs before work. So this one is cheating - I drew it 2 days later.
I didn't enjoy the movie so much, but at least I got popcorn.
This is all I want to do right now - sit in front of a fire and read. Hibernation sounds much better than working or being productive.
I am no salesman. I really suck at talking people into buying things. I guess you have to actually give a shit about your job. This is a skill I lack.
In an attempt to not think about how stupid and sucky today was, I drew some rats. I dare you to not find them adorable. While drawing them, I came to the realization that I really need to draw more. My drawing skills kind of suck.

Day 21: Utter failure.
Psych. No drawing today. For the first time, I literally did not have time to do one. It sucks. I am walking out the door in about 5 minutes. Argh.

Day 20: Tools of the trade
And here you thought I used things like pens and markers.
I eat, sleep, and breathe coffee. I don't even need food anymore - just a caffeine IV drip. I should make a ceramic series about this.

Day 18: LOBSTER
Nich was playing Impossible Creatures today, an older PC real time strategy game in which you genetically modify animals to be your minions. In my opinion, mixing any animal with lobster is a brilliant move. SNOWOBSTER is probably my favorite, but the PORCOBSTER gets points for being deadly and adorable.

Days 16 and 17
I took the weekend off for some much needed r & r. Ate ridiculous quantities of pizza, drew A LOT, hung out with Nich's family and helped make a hat, watched Dead Alive with Justin and Amy and drank tequila, and spent most of today drawing pugs and napping, with breaks of reading my new Neil Gaiman book and watching some Hitchhiker's Guide..
I NEED MORE TIME!!!! God, I hate work.

Day 15 (actual Day 15): Grumpy face.
Found a smaller sketchbook to use on those days I'm pressed for time, such as today. Look for bigger, full color stuff over the weekend, as I have TWO WHOLE DAYS OFF, which is unheard of.
IndieVISUAL 14: My exciting lunch
Had time to draw this yesterday, but not upload it, so it's a day late. Today's drawing will be posted tomorrow along with tomorrow's. Confused yet? Me too.

IndieVISUAL Day 13: Famous Blue Raincoat
Listening to Jonathan Coulton today - I find myself swooning the most over his ballads which aren't funny at all. I came to one called "Famous Blue Raincoat" and looked it up on his blog (I didn't even know who Leonard Cohen was, but I love this cover). I can't blame him for being obsessed with it; it's a good song. Since I'm a little pressed for time today, I took a break to do a quick sketch of a blue raincoat.
This is almost turning into an illustrated music blog. Maybe sometime this week something exciting will happen and I'll have something else to journal about.

IndieVISUAL Day 12: The events transpired thus so.
Pretty self-explanatory. I spent way more time on this than I meant to. Also, these are the vintage valentines we found. They belonged to an elderly man that used to live in the rental house in Nich's parents backyard.

Day 11: We are shy.
Cole Porter, Tom Waits, an Earthbound reference, Civ 4, and butter cookies are featured in today's entry.

Day 10: The Fifth Element, SWEDED
[Scanned and updated!]
Have you seen all the viewer submitted sweded movies on the Be Kind, Rewind website? Some of them are brilliant. I'm sad I didn't visit it sooner. I am trying to talk Nich into helping me make a sweded version of The Fifth Element. His sister Mariah is already on board to play the Diva.
HOW FREAKIN' RAD WOULD THIS BE???!?!??
Here's an article about the fan-sweded movies, and a list of the top 10 (though some of them are no longer available).
This website has all of the sweded films. We've got to do this! I'm so pumped, I can't stand it!!!
If you haven't watched Be Kind, Rewind, you're missing out. Go rent it, download it, or watch it online ASAP.

Day 9: Happiness is a warm marker?
Was listening to a ton of Beatles today - did some mediocre illustrations while listening. I didn't get to draw a fourth panel as I planned, or to color the third - I have to go into work. I may add to it tomorrow.
Does anyone else think of the blue guitar player painting by Picasso when they hear While My Guitar Gently Weeps? Or is that just me?

IndieVISUAL Day 8: Short and sweet
I only had 30 mins of drawing time today, so I didn't get to fill the whole page. I was thinking about my Mom today.
I think I'll go full color tomorrow and really spend some time on drawing.

IndieVISUAL Day 7: Can't quit my day job
Drew this while at work - I decided to go ahead and upload it before I go to Fedex. See you tomorrow!

IndieVISUAL Journal Day 6: Thinking of picking up a coke habit.
I need some kind of magic drug that will give me motivation, willpower, creativity, and mass quantities of energy. Since we're talking magic here, it might as well improve my drawing skills as well. I am SO FREAKIN' LAZY. Strangely enough, this journaling thing is much easier for me than getting real artwork done. I guess because there's no pressure or expectations. If the drawings suck, who cares? It's not like I've got ten million followers reading this thing.
On a separate note, I have some other cups I want to upload pictures of, but I don't have good lighting without daylight, and it's a little late now. Look for them sometime this week.
What do you guys think about the journaling on clay idea? Completely lame, or pure genius? Or maybe somewhere in between? I got a plaster bat system for my birthday, so there may be some platters in addition to the cups in the near future. I'd like to do some wall pieces as well. Maybe they can all center around visual journaling. Or whatever. I just like drawing and painting on stuff.
Probably won't hear from me for a couple days, as I have morning shift at one part time job, and my regular overnight shift at the other for the next couple days. I have to find somewhere to sleep in between there, so I'll upload extra drawings this weekend. Don't worry, I'll draw on my lunch break. I still intend to draw EVERY DAY.

IndieVISUAL Journal Day 5: pugs Pugs PUGS
[Had to remove the pug journal until after the t-shirt design is done... can't be giving away pug secrets...]
Did I not say there would be pugs today?
Guess what else? You get a bonus today of not one, but two painted cups! One has never been posted anywhere (because I just took pics of it today), and the other is just lagniappe, as they say down in New Orleans.
This one is extremely relevant because I wrote a journal entry on the cup and then painted over it. I had planned to do a cup journal entry a day, but as usual, I never followed thru with the idea. I would like to do something like that at least once in a while on here. This entry was about how I wish potters and artists got the same adoration as rock stars.Josie makes another grumpy appearance in one of my drawings. She does that.
I painted this one from a snapshot of my husband Nich and our friend Jason/Jesus drinking at one of our favorite Indy bars, The Chatterbox. This was back when the hubs still had his mohawk and waxed handlebar mustache.
That's it for today. Man, it's only 6:13p, and I'm all done, with extras! I'm so pimp.

Day 3 - Final Fantasy is f@#$%!ed up.
Forgive the atrocious drawings on this one. I was rushing before work, and besides that I can't draw out of my head to save my life. But I'm pleased with myself that I managed to get this uploaded before midnight, so it's still the 3rd.
I've really been enjoying doing this so far. I've always been a big fan of journaling and keeping sketchbooks, but I almost always kept a separate one of each - one for writing and one for drawing, one lined and one unlined. Both had completely fallen by the wayside in recent months; especially drawing.
I want to start compiling a list of everyone who's doing this challenge so I can see what other people are coming up with. So if you are, and I'm not following you yet, let me know so I can add you to the list!
If you haven't joined in, you should. It's fun, and it's virtually no pressure, other than getting your sketches up on the internet. Even that's flexible, since Maddy is encouraging those who can't post daily to either do the best they can, or just do a weekly bulk post. With rules like that, what excuse do you really have? And if you're bummed about starting late, who cares? You still have 362 days left to draw. Hell, do a couple extra pages one day if it makes you feel better. If you can't fit in a drawing everyday, just do the best you can on that too. The point is to keep the journal and get yourself drawing, and to have fun.
Btw, to anyone who's actually following this, I really appreciate it:D I know I'm doing this first and foremost for myself, but I don't mind a little attention either. Otherwise, what's the point of posting it on the interbutts?
One last thing (I know, I know, tldr): I'm hoping to start posting one item a week that's ceramic rather than journal. I need to get back into the habit of that too. Maybe every Monday? Or possibly just one random day, since my schedule changes a lot. We'll see. But this is a ceramics blog, and it is called "15 Painted Cups", so it needs some freakin' ceramics. Otherwise, I gotta start a new blog for the challenge, and I'm honestly too lazy to do that.
